On June 21, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security announced that people from El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua who are living in the U.S. can extend their temporary protected status (TPS) during upcoming 60-day re-registration periods. This announcement reversed decisions made by the Trump administration in 2017 and 2018.
