Reports have surfaced that DHS is terminating the DACA status of those who commit disqualifying crimes subsequent to the initial grant. In the past, crimes committed after the initial grant would only come to light upon the renewal application. It appears that DHS is now taking action to terminate the DACA status right away rather than waiting until the renewal application. This is particularly significant because the termination of DACA status could result in removal proceedings being initiated. It is extremely important that DACA recipients take care to avoid any criminal conviction, including first-time DUI convictions.
